Father Roderick’s “The Break”

Fr. Roderick Vonhögen

It’s been quite some time since I’ve listened to Father Roderick’s weekly podcast, “The Break.” Several years ago I was a regular listener to its predecessor podcast, “The Daily Breakfast.” Fr. Roderick, a Dutch parish priest, started this podcast to appeal to people who were not particularly religious, but who shared his interests in Star Wars, contemporary movies & TV shows, gadgets, video games and more.

I happened to catch the live show today (recorded below from USTREAM) and I’ve just added The Break to my list of podcast subscriptions for regular listening. I’m pleased to see that Fr. Roderick is still going strong as the host of several of SQPN’s podcasts.

Fr. Roderick has realized great success in reaching so many people with the Gospel message using his unique approach. He’s entertaining, relevant and very approachable. I have so much respect for him and the results he’s achieved through his culturally relevant approach to sharing the Gospel message. He understood years ago the need for a new evangelization and he’s been living it ever since.

SQPN (Star Quest Production Network) also sponsors the annual Catholic New Media Conference (CNMC), which brings Catholic podcasters and bloggers together for a few days of inspiration, learning, sharing and community building. I missed this year’s event in Dallas, but I hope to make it to next year’s event. It’s always a great time and an opportunity to connect with many of my online friends in real life.

Do yourself a favor and connect with Fr. Roderick and SQPN. Regardless of your interests, there’s sure to be a show for you. My sincere thanks goes out to Father and all of his podcasters for the awesome work they do, week in and week out, to bring the Gospel message to such a diverse audience. Please keep them all in your prayers.
