About Scott

Founder of ParishGeeks.com, Scott Maentz is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Athens, Tennessee. He’s an Aspirant for the Permanent Diaconate in the Diocese of Knoxville, hoping to be called to Candidacy and in five years, to Ordination. Most of all, he is praying that God’s will be done in his life…as a Deacon or not. His wife, Christine, is writing about the journey in her blog, The Deacon’s Aspirant’s Wife.

Scott developed and manages St. Mary’s website and has taught Theology of the Body to high school students with Christine. He’s served as St. Mary’s parish council’s communication chair and is a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Scott’s an avid technology buff who enjoys using the latest Internet applications to market products and services, discover and share information, and build community. He’s produced podcasts, hosted and produced Internet video for his motorcycle lighting business, and attends national conferences on podcasting, social media and blogging.

Scott is passionate about using digital media to create a “digital legacy” for future generations to better know and appreciate their ancestors. To that end, he and his wife keep an extensive on-line photo library of family and personal events, dozens of YouTube videos, an active Facebook account and personal blogs. He’s a supporter and friend of SQPN, a Catholic network of podcasters and evangelists taking the lead in Catholic new media.
